PDF documents have many benefits not supported by TIFF. Unlike TIFF documents, which are not supported by Web browsers and so are useless for Web pages, PDF documents may be optimized for Web delivery.  All that’s needed is an optional Adobe plug-in.

Formats that are portable across operation systems (TIFF, JPG, and PDF) allow files to be identical whether you are using PCs or MACs and get rid of the need to convert these kinds of files to JPEG format.
